'28 MONTHS LATER’ TALK WITH DANNY BOYLE

Director Danny Boyle (127 Hours, 28 Days Later) conducted a web chat with his fans for Empire Magazine recently. If one sifted through some of the random questions people had for him (do you like banana muffins?), you'd find a few nuggets of info regarding the world he aggressively kick-started with 28 Days Later and its possible threequel, 28 Months Later.Boyle in recent months has said that he's got a lot of projects on his plate at the moment, including the 2012 Olympics, but he would consider directing a third film.

What's the latest? Pretty much the same thing, however, he seems to be making some time to think about it:"There is a good idea for it, and once I've got Frankenstein open, I'll begin to think about it a bit more."In case you haven't heard, Boyle is directing a stage adaptation of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" for London theater-goers.Someone had asked him if he feels responsible for the "death" of slow-moving zombies. He responded, "It's a dream come true! Finally, they're a real menace!" Let the slow versus fast zombies debate begin again...

JOE JOHNSTON ADMITS HIS ‘WOLFMAN’ REMAKE WAS GARBAGE

Director Joe Johnston is finally opening up about the atrocity of cinema known simply as The Wolfman., Johnston opens up a bit about the Wolfman disaster-piece. Details Below-

"CAPTAIN AMERICA was a lot of things. Every picture has its highs and lows, its dreads and excited anticipations. To fully understand the CAPTAIN AMERICA experience, I have to keep reminding myself that I had just come off another film I shot in the UK, THE WOLFMAN," Johnston tells Comic Book Movie. "The two experiences could not have been more different, in fact in many ways (certainly not all) they were polar opposites. I had three weeks of prep on WOLFMAN, a ridiculously inadequate amount of time to try to bring together the fractured and scattered pieces of the production.

I had taken the job mostly because I had a cash flow problem, the only time in my career I’ve ever let finances enter into the decision process. Money is always the wrong reason for doing something that requires passionate devotion. The production was a leaky, rudderless ship in a perfect storm suffering from bad decisions, infighting, reluctance of the powers-that-be to take responsibility, and too many under-qualified cooks in the kitchen. The good news and bad news about directing is that when the picture works you’re showered with all the credit and when it doesn’t work you’re dumped on with all the blame. Both scenarios are undeserved. I take full responsibility for THE WOLFMAN not working because it goes with the territory."

‘Boyscouts vs. Zombies’ Picked up by Paramount

Thanks to the guys over at Deadline, they have revealed that Paramount Pictures have acquired the rights to Carrie Evans & Emi Mochizukis screenplay, Boy Scouts Vs. Zombies which was on that infamous Black List. Evans & Mochizukis are graduates of the Disney Writing Program, who have also scripted the film College Road Trip. The script is said to be in the vein of The Goonies, which follows a local boy scout troop that must save a girl scout troop from an outbreak of zombies, while on an overnight camping trip.Boy Scouts Vs. Zombies will be produced by Todd Garner's Broken Road, Oops Doughnuts partners Andy Fickman and Betsy Sullenger, and Bryan Brucks' Brucks Entertainment. This sounds like it will be a lot of fun, and surely if its in the vein of The Goonies then its just got to be awesome. from Reggie Dwight on Facebook

RECENT HORROR NEWS 5TH NOVEMBER 2010

JOHN CARPENTER’S NEXT PROJECT IS ‘DARKCHYLDE’

It has been revealed that the legend that is John Carpenter will be bringing Randy Queen's comic Darkchylde to the big screen, Carpenter will direct the picture and Sandy King's Storm King Productions have joined up with Darkchylde Entertainment to produce the film. This is awesome, I'm just hoping John Carpenter is okay after his recent seizure, the guy is as tough as nails so I'm sure it was just one of those things. I can't wait to see what John has in store for us with Darkchylde, if things go to plan this looks like it could turn out to be quite epic.

Check out the Press Release:

"Master of Horror set to bring you the girl of your dreams. John Carpenter is on board to direct Darkchylde, based on the comic by Randy Queen about a good-hearted Southern teen cursed to become the creatures from her many recurring nightmares. Every time Ariel Chylde transforms, she sheds her skin and a new nightmare emerges from her Id to act out her deepest, darkest impulses.

John Carpenter and Sandy King's Storm King Productions have allied with Randy and Sarah Queen's Darkchylde Ent. to produce the film, following the release of test footage created by Richard Taylor's Academy Award winning Weta Workshop (The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, King Kong, The Hobbit).

John Carpenter says, “Randy Queen's hijacked angel, Ariel Chylde, is the best young female character since Laurie Strode in Halloween. Bringing Ariel and her dark mysteries to life should be quite an adventure for us all.”

Adds Queen, "I'm beyond thrilled that John Carpenter, one of our most important and legendary genre directors, and the man responsible for such landmark films as THE THING and HALLOWEEN, has come onboard with Weta Workshop to help bring the nightmarish tale of Ariel Chylde to the silver screen. As a horror fan, the thought of Carpenter and Weta together, beautiful dreamscapes, and multiple transformations makes me incredibly excited. There is a reason nearly his entire catalogue has been, or is being, remade, and it's because Carpenter is a genius."

JOHN CARPENTER TO PRODUCE BRAZILIAN HORROR 'THE HELL WITHIN'

More from Carpenter,There is no stopping him as according to Variety he is set to produce a new horror film titled The Hell Within. The film is set in Brazil's Amazon jungle and follows a woman who on a quest deep into the Amazon jungle to save a girl, only to discover that the girl was bait. It's not much to go on, but Amazon jungle plus a girl used as bait sounds to me we may be in for some cannibal action, I wonder if the woman will be documenting her stuff on a video camera? The Hell Within is to be directed by Dennison Ramalho and written by Jeff Buhler, stay tuned for casting news as it is released.

TWISTED PICTURES ANNOUNCE THAT NEW ‘TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE’ MOVIE IS DEFFINETLY HAPPENING

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre may have been plundered for endless sequels and remakes – and sequels to remakes – but Leatherface is set to return for yet another traveller-butchering slashfest.

Twisted Pictures, who’ve been planning a new Chain Saw Massacre sequel for a while, have finally moved ahead and hired writers Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan to scratch out a script. The pair previously worked together nearly two decades ago to pen the after-thought slasher sequel that was Jason Goes To Hell. The plot of this seventh human-flesh wearing movie picks up 35 years after Leatherface first rampaged in Tobe Hooper’s chilling original, and sees a set of new relatives entering the fold.

“It’s 35 years later, there’s a relative going back,” producer Mark Burg said last year. “Why is he going back? I don’t want to set it in a dusty town. How do we make it more urban but keep that feel. There will be some relatives, some new people. There’s still the subtext of ‘are they eating these people?’ The whole idea of cannibalism, we’re bringing it back.”

‘WOLF CREEK 2’ PLOT DETAILS

Greg McLean's 2005 Wolf Creek was one of the best surprises I had in recent years, and gave birth to the infamous serial killer Mick Taylor (John Jarratt) it was an unrelenting ride and I've been waiting anxiously for a sequel and today comes first word of some early plot details.According to STYD "In the sequel, we're told the plot will follow a backpacker seeking an authentic Australian adventure. Then he come to learn the deepest, darkest secrets of the Outback's most infamous serial killer, Mick Taylor." Greg McLean is returning for the sequel to direct the film and he is working with Matt Hearn on the script. John Jarratt is also returning to reprise his role as the serial killer Mick Taylor. It's not much to go on with the early plot, but we know what Mick Taylor is like right? All I needed to know was if Jarratt and McLean are returning, and they are, so sign me down for this one.

ELI ROTH FINDS HIS ‘PSYCHO KILLER’ DIRECTOR

According to Variety The Last Exorcism team, Eli Roth, Eric Newman (Both Pictured Right) and StudioCanal will be teaming up once again to bring us a suspense/thriller titled Psycho Killer. It may not be the most original title but it is written Andrew Kevin Walker, the same guy that gave us Se7en.Psycho Killer will be the directorial debut of Zombieland producer Gavin Palone, so it will be interesting to see how he does.Psycho Killer tells the tale of a masked murderer which leaves a trail of victims across America, who kills a highway patrolman. The only witness to the crime is the patrols wife, who is also an officer.Palone told Variety that the first 20% of the film will follow the killer's every move. Also Psycho Killer has started casting and is hoping for a late Spring shoot. The producers are looking for a femme lead, who the audience are aware of but not a big name star.

‘SILENT HILL 2’ BACK ON TRACK

Michael J. Bassett is sitting in the director's chair on Silent Hill 2.Bassett director Death Watch as well as Solomon Kane, which stirred up excitement from those who saw it on the film festival circuit. The sequel will be called Silent Hill: Revelations and is being geared for 3D. It focuses on a protagonist named Heather Mason who, on the eve of her 18th birthday, is plagued by nightmares and now has to investigate the disappearance of her father. Somehow it all ties into Silent Hill, of course.
