In a world that often feels heavy with the weight of uncertainty, conflict, and the relentless pursuit of “more,” we could all use a little purple in our lives—both figuratively and literally.
Enter Purpleism, the movement that dares to combine joy, balance, creativity, and just the right amount of absurdity to make life a bit more fun, meaningful, and colorful. We've been around for going on 20 years now actually, from the date of inception. But there's been some massive changes this year and so, kind of a relaunch is going on.
Invigorating. Terrifying! Exciting!
We’re not talking about another run-of-the-mill philosophy. No way, Purpleism is a way of living, a path of connection that embraces the beauty of chaos and order, where humor and insight dance together in perfect harmony. And best of all, it’s here—and we want you to be a part of it (or not, we're really not that invested, that's up to the individual).
Of course, all religions, serious or absurd, seem to claim that. But we claim NOTHING.
So, what exactly is Purpleism, and why should you care? Let’s dive into the heart of it, and along the way, we’ll let you in on how you can join the movement, connect with fellow Purpleists (so far, still only 2! See, that's the beauty of if! What is Purpleism?
At its core, Purpleism is about embracing absurd joy, empathy, and balance in a world that could use more of all three. It's a celebration of what happens when you combine logic and wonder, when you lean into the unknown, and when you allow yourself to experience life’s most unexpected moments with a smile (or even a chuckle).
The key precepts of Purpleism focus on these Tenets and the "Five TENS" (of which there are eight, obviously):
- Absurd Joy: Finding laughter and lightness, even in the darkest of times.
- Empathy & Equality: Honoring the intrinsic value of every person and fostering inclusivity.
- Balance Between Chaos and Order: Knowing when to be structured and when to let go and let things flow.
- The Purple Path: A journey of self-discovery, guided by creativity, wisdom, and a bit of cosmic curiosity.
- Playful Wisdom: This tenet advocates for learning and growth through unorthodox means, like satire or absurdity.
Purpleism isn’t just a philosophy. It’s a way to live better, to see the world with more depth, and to share that perspective with others. It’s the kind of movement that inspires you to think deeply, laugh loudly, and celebrate the beauty in everything—from the mundane to the magnificent.
How did it come to be? Well, a kid and a format university psych major in phenomenology were talking one night, and, well...things got tense. And then in a burst of laughter, Purpleism was born! Long story...told elsewhere.
